Please help Baby Willy

Hello, We are the Rees family. We are from Williston North Dakota. We have currently found ourselves here in Salt Lake City Utah. You see our baby Willy has just been diagnosed with leukemia. When we found out the doctors immediately flew Willy and mama Maricel to Primary Children's Hospital here in Utah. Willy's older brother Bobby and I drove down the next day. We are currently staying at the Ronald McDonald house here in Salt Lake City.

Please allow me to fill you in on the absolutely horrible year we've been having. 2022 has not been good. On January 23, I was hospitalized with a collapsed lung due to covid. I spent seventeen days in ICU and five more in a recovery room. Just as our family was returning to a sense of normality Maricel had a miscarriage at four months. It was on November 11 that baby Willy was diagnosed with A.L.L. a type of leukemia. We thought we would be ok at the time because Maricel worked for the Williston Basin School District and we had good insurance via Blue Cross Blue Shield. Sadly for us two weeks later via a conference call with HR and the school Principal Maricel was let go. Maricel was given the choice to quit and be eligible for rehire at a later date or be terminated. Unfortunately, this was legal because North Dakota is a right-to-work state. In our current state of mind, we didn't know what to do and Maricel had never been fired from a job before so she chose to quit. It was at this time that her employer canceled our insurance.

We had never heard of a person being let go because their child has cancer. We find it unbelievably cruel but North Dakota must be the exception. In my case, I am still under doctors' restrictions. I am being treated for the after-effects of a collapsed lung. I hope that I will be released to work soon but doctors say April. This whole year has left us in financial ruin. This we can deal with, it is the health of baby Willy that concerns us at this time. We need some help with funds so we can stay here in Utah but also cover our bills back home and the new medical bills we are currently acquiring.
