“Wayne Barfield is the happiest 1 yr. old ever. He's very independent and loves Mickey Mouse, apple juice and mash potatoes! He's very smart and observant and wants to be the boss most of the time but is also loving. He will hug or kiss you at the exact moment when you need it most. We noticed a mass growing on his chest when he was around 4-5 months old. It was monitored by his pediatrician and at 12 months it began to grow rapidly. His pediatrician recommended that he have it removed. On 8.20.19, a biopsy was performed and sadly on 9.18.2019, the results came back and Wayne has been diagnosed with giant cell fibroplastoma which is a rare cancer. Fortunately, doctors say it is curable but Wayne will have to undergo multiple surgeries to remove all of the cancer cells in his chest. Wayne is scheduled to see an oncologist next week to explain to his dad and I more about the disease. “
Cathy Barfield is a San Francisco employee of ATI and is a first-time mother who loves her little one, Wayne with all of her heart. On 9/18/19, they received the worst news parents could ever receive, their son was diagnosed with cancer. We would like to ask for any help for the Barfield family to help them get through this very difficult and scary time.
