PLEASE HELP AVERY GET THE SURGERY

SHE NEEDS.

Hello, I’m Amanda, and this is our girl Avery —

a one‑year‑old pittie mix who has made so many friends in the Fi community.

For anybody that doesn’t have Fi GPS collars for their pet, I would strongly recommend it. Not only is there a whole community from all over the US, the actual Fi team is amazing as well. If our Fi friends share this with others who do not have Fi I wanted to be sure people understood what I was talking about.

After Avery’s x‑rays, we learned Avery has a ligament tear in her “knee” and needs surgery. Hearing the vet say that word sent me straight into a panic. My husband kept telling me, “We’ll be okay. Avery will be okay. Don’t sweat it.” But the truth is, it’s a lot of money, and with me being out of work for medical reasons for a couple more months, it’s more than we can handle alone right now.What has got me through each day so far was all of the support all of Fi following and some not following has given to us.

Fi friends reached out to check on Avery, ask how she did, and send her love. People told me, “The Fi community is generous. Post a link — people will help.”Honestly, in the world we live in, I didn’t think anyone would donate. Everyone has their own financial struggles. But reading your comments… my heart felt like it was going to explode. You reminded me that there are still good people out there.As I write this, Avery is lying with her head in my lap — exhausted from the meds to keep her sleepy and not wanting to make it worse.

The stress from the day of her X-rays was also distressing because the opioid they gave her lasted in to the late evening which was he whining /crying , confusion and she even was rocking back and forth like she had too much wine…

I look at her and think about where she came from: rescued off the streets of Houston, skin and bones, covered in mites

to where she is now. It is a beautiful thing. Her love helps me everyday with my own battles. She’s my emotional support dog I think.

After we lost our beloved Porter in April 2025 after 9 years of him hugging me when I got home, people told us Porter must have sent her to us. She really is our angel.

She loves my husband so much — she’s on his feet the second he moves — and she has brought so much healing into our home after so much loss.

We’ve both worked in our jobs for over 20 years, and we’ve always taken pride in taking care of our family and our pets.

We even got pet insurance when we rescued her, but this injury came out of nowhere, and the upfront costs are still overwhelming.

If you’re able to donate, even a small amount, it will go directly toward her surgery and recovery. And if you can’t donate, that is understandable also, sharing this with others will also help and it means just as much.

Thank you for reminding me that there is generosity and good people in this world . It is something special.

Asking for help is difficult for me however, I believe in the good people that do have the ability to help us help Avery. We are “ good” people as well and we both work hard and take pride in that. Everyday we work we are helping others out there not working. That is a good feeling when it’s not being abused by capable individuals.

If this is a total epic flop, that is okay also. People remind me that you can’t win the lottery for sure if you don’t actually play. Well, if I do not try, I will fail for sure. I know everyone out there has their own battles, but perhaps those that have the means and ability would be able to help us help Avery.
