Hi, my name is Jasmine Nadon, and I am raising funds for my brother, Austin, during the most heartbreaking time our family has ever faced.

On September 4th, Austin was admitted to the hospital with pancreatitis. What we believed would be a difficult hospital stay quickly turned into a nightmare. His condition became so severe that doctors had to place him into a medically induced coma to keep him alive.

As if that wasn’t enough, Austin suffered a failed tracheostomy removal, which led to cardiac arrest. During this time, his brain was deprived of oxygen — a moment that forever changed our lives. Soon after, Austin was transferred to St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto to undergo a groundbreaking surgical procedure in hopes of saving him.

On October 24th, we experienced a moment we will never forget — Austin opened his eyes. There were delays, but for the first time in weeks, we felt hope. Just days later, on October 28th, that hope was met with devastating news. We were told that Austin had suffered an anoxic brain injury as a result of the cardiac arrest.

Since then, Austin has continued to fight every single day. He has been battling ongoing infections, high fevers, and complications that no one should ever have to endure. Now, he needs to return to St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto once again for another major surgery to remove additional toxins from his abdominal area — another critical step in keeping him alive and giving him a chance at recovery.

Our family has been living between hospital walls, long drives, and sleepless nights. We have spent countless hours by Austin’s bedside, talking to him, holding his hand, and praying he knows he is not alone. Between missed work, time away from school, travel to Toronto, accommodations, parking, and basic daily needs, the financial strain has become overwhelming.

We are asking for help so we can focus on what matters most — being there for Austin and continuing to advocate for his care without the constant fear of how we will manage financially.
