Help a 1 Year Old Newf Mix Avoid Lifelong Pain.

Greetings, my name is Mandala.

I am here fundraising for my 1 year old dog Aster who urgently requires surgery on his hind left knee.

Aster is a large Newfie mix who experienced an injury during his rapid growth a couple of months ago. Despite our best efforts since then with limited physical activity, medication and supplements; the tear in Aster’s knee is not healing and our vet is recommending surgery ASAP to prevent him from having lifelong arthritis.

The estimated cost of his Tibial Tuberosity Advancement surgery (TTA) is quoted at $4000 through the low income veterinary office caring for him.

I also currently owe about $700 loaned towards his care from friends.

The cost of his care so far has been about $2500 for emergency radiographs on a long weekend, bloodwork, medication, supplements, emergency neuter upon discovering prostatitis in bloodwork and enrichment. (Toys, snacks, puzzles, fuel so I can take him on drives in lou of walks.)

I am a single adult on disability with a teenage daughter and this challenging situation has put great strain on our financial well-being.

Because of Aster’s limitations, I had to scale back on my new pet care business and cancel all boarding/housesitting bookings for the summer. This was a loss of about $2000 worth of business.

Also and very importantly, this unfortunate accident is costing us more than finances. Aster’s mental and emotional health are notably starting to struggle between chronic pain, very limited physical activity and no playing with his dog friends.

He is only allowed 10 minute leashed walks to go to the bathroom. No running. No jumping. No getting on and off of furniture. No play with other dogs. No play with our cats.

To be honest, my morale is also struggling. Caring for a young, energetic and temporarily disabled dog within extreme financial stress has me beyond exhausted. To not be able to explain to Aster why his existence has changed so drastically is heartbreaking.

It is extremely difficult for me to be here asking for your help, but I am desperate for Aster to be out of pain and to ensure he has a healthy leg to use for the rest of his life!

Aster and I have been through a lot over these past few months and we can’t wait to be able to work and play again. We. would be endlessly grateful if you could help us out by donating or sharing our fundraiser.
