Hi I'm Lauren. I'm an actor who was in a production at The Main Theatre in Newhall, CA when it abruptly burned down due to a fire that started down the street. I started this to help local theatre-makers from The MAIN Theater in Newhall.

Early Monday morning, fire tore through the heart of Old Town in Newhall, taking with it several established Main Street business, including The MAIN, a theater that for decades has been the foundation of a burgeoning stage community in Santa Clarita.

The MAIN is never without a show. When the theater burned, a local production, (“You Got Older”) was in the middle of its two-week run, having brought together many artists to design and build the show. This creative team lost many of their personal tools and equipment. They - WE - need your generous support to help them replace what was lost:

Jeremy D. Thompson is a local theatre maker who devotedly and generously collaborates with productions all year long, utilizing his personal collection of equipment for multiple productions across the whole season. He was also an employee of The MAIN. Jeremy lost a substantial collection of professional theatrical and production equipment — moving stage lights, lighting control gear, a full Canon camera and lens kit, power tools, and miles of cabling built up over years for live production and theater work. The total estimated replacement value of everything lost is over $30,000.

Renato Biribin is an actor, writer, director, artist and theatre maker, as well as dedicated teacher to high school theatre students, who directed the last show to perform on the stage of The Main. Renato lost his personal inventory of power tools from Milwaukee valued at $2500 to the fire.

William Diament is a passionate and dedicated young theatre maker, theatre lover and stage manager, who has continued to expand his theatre experience by taking part in all aspects of production, from on stage and backstage. Will lost his Dewalt tools, stage management and set building gear, totaling $2500.

David Stears is a professor at the local community college. He built this theatre from the ground up. He also started the Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival. He has given everything to this valley, to create a vibrant theatre scene. He lost steel decking, platforms and moving lights, a loss of about $6000.

Additionally, we lost props, costumes, and a few personal heirlooms (including a wedding dress and his late father’s baseball cap). We lost hand knit blankets, and our beautiful set, hand painted by an amazing scenic artist Denim Weisman.

We want to prioritize first and foremost raising money for these theatre makers who, along with their personal items, have devoted so much of their time and energy to bringing important stories to the MAIN stage.
