Hello, My name is Karyn and I am fund raising for our sweet dog Aquarius. We adopted Aquarius just 2 months ago and were thrilled to celebrate her third birthday in her FUREVER home. She has had a difficult life so far.

Her first year she was neglected, abused and malnurished and tied to a tree until she was rescued by the authorities and taken into care. "Into care" was a humaine society locked in a kennel 24/7, still with minimal human interaction and love. Her next several months she did not do well with care living in a kennel. She deteriated, she was depressed being in the isolation and would no longer interact with the outside world. She had just given up living if it meant living that way, waiting on adoption. She was in such poor shape that she was put on the euthanasia list unless she could be fostered and improve....

Thankfully a non for profit took her into foster care and the foster mom worked incredibly hard to bring her out of her shell and wanting to live again. She ran with other foster fur sibblings and started to learn more about how to be and act like a dog. During those 4 months, she waited and waited for adoption with not a single inquiry or adoption request!

Until we found her! I found her looking online. Her story broke our hearts and we vowed that if given the chance, Aquarius would never long for love and attention again. We fell in love. We wanted to give her a home that would love and care for her for the rest of her years. We interacted and chatted online with the foster mom and learned more about this sweet, gentle soul who just wanted love, soooo much love!

We drove for 11 straight hours to pick her up and she was more delightful than we could ever imagine. Shes a super suck. Likes to follow you like velcro, just so afraid she will be left alone again.

She enjoys her car rides but is afraid that if you stop somewhere other than home, that you are leaving her. She loves to romp and play with her other fur sibblings here. She LOVES yogurt and being outside running with her pack. Shes a bed hog who snores horribly too lol She nustles right into you and uses your legs as pillows. She is absolutely precious!

Unforunately, yesterday at her vet apt we found out that this sweet little girl, who just turned 3, has a mast cell tumor under her left armpit. CANCER! This poor girl just cannot catch a break!

Her best odds are to have it surgically removed with wide enough margins to remove the cancer and hope that the results come back that it is a 'low grade tumor' and wouldnt require further intervention and just monitoring that there is no regrowth. If it is a high grade tumor than chemo/radation would be required and will cost in the thousands!!! :(

For now, the estimate is for a little more than $1500 for the surgery to remove the tumor, which is the first step.

I am disabled living on a disability paycheck and my husband helps to care for me so funds are VERY limited. This surprise is not something that we can wait and budget on. Aquarius needs her surgery ASAP to remove the tumor and this is the reason I am looking to other animal lovers to help offset the cost. Anything you can contribute, is greatly appreciated.
