Please help Anthony, our 2-year old son, beat stage 4 neuroblastoma.
A few months ago Anthony was sick with the flu, and we didn't think much of it, since he was attending day care for the first time, and it is normal for kids to get sick. After he stopped attending day care he wasn't getting better. In early March we noticed he started limping and wasn't as interested to play outside liked he loved to do before. As we noticed he was in more pain and it hurt to walk or stand we called our pediatrician. They immediately sent us to their office to give him a regular exam. Our pediatrician sent us to a hospital to get x-rays, blood tests, and a cover-19 test. The doctors weren't sure about what they saw on the scans so at 2 am. They sent us to Stanford's Children's Hospital to get clearer images. They saw a mass above his kidney and tumors had begun to spread throughout his body. Anthony's doctors decided its best to start with chemotherapy and once the tumors shrink they will proceed with surgery to try and remove as many and as much of the tumors possible. They will then do a bone marrow transplant and continue with radiation.
Neuroblastoma is a rare type of cancer which grows from nerve cells and mostly affects children. This type of cancer is very challenging, especially at stage 4 like Anthony's. But with the love and support of his family and friends he will get through it.
My husband and I, as well as his two older sisters, Vlada and Kateryna will be by his side to help him fight his battle with cancer.
