Hi! My name is Angie! For the past two years, I have been suffering from serious chronic medical conditions, including a serious heart condition, and some that are a direct result of being attacked in December of 2022. I MUST continue my medical care, or my health will get worse.
Please see some examples of my unpaid medical bills below. I have so many more.
I have been pursuing my PhD in Nutrition & Dietetics, and was employed as a Teaching and Research assistant at my university. Unfortunately, my student funding has expired, leaving me with no employment at the end of December 2023.
I NEED to finish my PhD. It is my dream, and would be an utter shame if I did not, considering the time and effort I have dedicated to my education for over a decade. I am enrolled for the 2024 Spring semester, but am unable to afford the cost.
Please see proof of my 2024 Spring enrollment below.
Being unemployed also means I will no longer have health insurance to be able to pay for the medications I need.
For months I have been applying for jobs (i.e., FIU, Miami-Dade College, the Department of Veteran Affairs, Miami Dade Parks & Recreation), and have even applied for low paying jobs that I would have never considered in the past (based on my experience and education), but feel as though I have no choice but to apply for.
Please see examples of jobs I have been applying for:
I'm am in dire straights. Unemployment also means I will not be able to pay for my basic, essential bills (such as rent, electricity, health insurance, phone/internet, medical bill payments, and groceries), which will risk me being homeless.
Please see an itemized list below:
- ️Rent - $1,700/month
- Electricity - $100/month
- Phone/Internet - $130/month
- Car Insurance - $150/month
- Gas - $50/month (I barely drive)
- Groceries - $200/month ($50/week)
- Random household items (toilet paper, shampoo, etc.) - $100/month
- Spring 2024 Semester - $2,000
- Medications - over $1,000/month without insurance
- Medical Bills - $3,500 (the bills are over $10,000)
- Doctor & Specialist Visits - UNKNOWN (I have no idea how much each visit will cost without insurance)
I can barely afford groceries (thank goodness for Aldi), and have about $2,600 left to my name.
I have been selling mostly everything I own on eBay (including the last things I have from my childhood, instruments, musical equipment, and furniture). I will soon be posting many items on Facebook Marketplace soon for local pickup in Miami.
I was even forced to sell the only jewelry I had of value (including my late grandmother's gold necklace and items that belonged to my grandfather), which are the only thing I had left from them. I was the only one taking care of of my grandparents towards the end of their lives (while going to college), because they were the most important people in my life. I know they would be okay with me giving up what they left me to see me finish my dream, and to do it while healthy.
I'm asking for assistance in helping me survive for the next three months. I know the holidays and the end of the year are approaching, but if there is anything, anything at all you can spare, I will be forever grateful.
** Even a donation of $20 will help me pay for almost half my groceries for a week! **
If you are unable to donate, PLEASE share with your family, friends, and on social media (you never know who is in the giving spirit).
Thank you everyone for any consideration in helping me out.
Sincerely,
The Future Dr. Angie ⚕️
