Hello, my name is Melanie Lanuza, and I am raising funds to help ease the burden of some unexpected medical expenses for my beloved cousin, Angelyn (Angie) Smithwick.

On July 1, 2025, after having flu-like symptoms and some painful swelling, she decided to go to an urgent care for some relief, but her intuition told her that something more serious might be wrong, and she went to the Baptist Hospital Emergency Room instead.

It was discovered that Angelyn had a 100% blockage in her circumflex artery, and that she had suffered an asymptomatic heart attack. She had to get an emergency heart catheter placed in her circumflex artery shortly after she arrived at Baptist.

Unfortunately, her hospital stay was prolonged after the procedure due to complications, and her kidney levels needed to be monitored before she was finally discharged on July 9th.

Angelyn has exhausted her PTO and sick leave at work, and the medical bills keep piling up.
