Please help Andrew fight his battle with cancer

Hello everyone, I’d like to introduce you to a dear friend of mine, Andrew Free. Andrew is a wonderful human, he is a hard worker, a giving friend and is always willing to provide support and love to those around him. Right now, he needs your help.  Andrew is 32, a loving husband and a wonderful father to a child with special needs and an angel baby watching over him from the stars.  Last September Andrew became incredibly unwell. He describes it as going from ‘a 30-year-old to an 80-year-old within a few short day’s’.  He was unable to get out of bed due to severe bodily pain and after vigorous testing was diagnosed with a type of blood cancer called Multiple Myeloma .

Multiple Myeloma causes damage to bones, the immune system, kidneys and affects the red blood cell count. Sadly, there is no cure.  The average life expectancy for someone with this type of cancer is 4 years – however we are all hopeful that Andrews young age, positive lifestyle, incredible sense of humour and support from those around him will see him beat the odds and have a good 10+ years ahead of him to make wonderful memories. The road ahead will be challenging, with many ups and downs. Andrew is currently receiving weekly chemo treatments to prepare him for Stem Cell Transplantation in a few months’ time and will need to be on chemotherapy for the rest of his life.

Without a Healthcare Card, Andrews Chemo treatments will cost $6,000 for 3 weeks’ worth. This means that Andrew and his wife are now unable to earn a proper income, as this would cause them to lose their health care card and mean they would have to pay the full cost of the treatments themselves, as well as somehow pay rent, bills, and put food on the table – an impossible task.

Andrew has been unsuccessful in getting access to any insurance or payouts from his superannuation and due to his condition has been denied funeral insurance. Centrelink have also denied Andrew a disability pension as the prognosis is greater than 2 years, and any savings the family had previously has rapidly dried up thanks to bills. Without your help, Andrew and his family will be unable to make ends meet, and they are already struggling now. This time should be spent as a family making beautiful memories, not stressing about bills and putting food on the table.

Andrew has provided for his community with his work over the past 10 past years at a local fruit and vegetable shop. He has been supporting his own family in meeting the special needs for his son and supporting his mother through her deteriorating health over the years. Even with everything he has going on he is still hoping to do some volunteer work in the community on days he is feeling well.

The goal for this Go-Fund-Me page is simple – please help this beautiful family in any way you can to pay the bills, put food on the table, and hopefully make a few wonderful memories in the time they have left together. Any amount of donations is so appreciated, whatever you can spare. If you aren’t comfortable donating here, perhaps you have a food or fuel voucher lying around that you could pass on? Please just get in touch.  Anything to help them get by is so deeply appreciated.

Thank you all for reading and for your love and support of my dear friend and wonderful human, Andrew Free. Andrew, we love ya mate. Here for you always xo
