Setting up this fundraiser for a dear friend of my mother who has no access to setting up.

Last week our lovely friend Sue had a house fire at her park home in the beautiful New Forest. Sue, aged 72, is now homeless and devastated at the loss of, not only her home but her tiny dog companion Evie, a teacup Maltese terrier who was only 18 months old when the blaze ripped through the home. Sadly, a chip pan was the cause of the fire; it went up very suddenly and quickly escalated, at which Evie took fright and disappeared. Sue tried to use a fire extinguisher but as she suffers from Raynaud’s disease, a condition which affects the body's blood circulation, Sue was unable to operate it. In Sue’s case, this disease has caused deformities in her hands and feet and she suffers continually from the cold. In addition, Sue has recently suffered two strokes, causing difficulties with her memory.

Back in October last year Sue decided to put the property on the market, as the sale was imminent Sue had not realised the house insurance policy had lapsed. Sadly, the sale fell through and due to falling ill and having to go for surgery, Sue had not realised the house insurance had lapsed.

The Fire Brigade came quickly and the attending officers braved the smoke, found little Evie and tried to resuscitate her but unfortunately, being so tiny, she had already died.

Sandy Balls Holiday Centre houses a small community of 50 residents living within the holiday park. Sue is such a lovely lady and as residents, we have all been sadly affected by this awful event. She has been left with nothing due to fire and smoke damage and is now homeless, sofa-surfing between friends and family.

This is no way for a disabled pensioner to live. We appreciate that times are hard for everyone but as her friends, we are asking for your help to raise as much money as we can so Sue can purchase a new lodge and continue to live in the holiday park that she calls home. Any amount will be greatly appreciated. If you cannot donate, sharing this story will be just as helpful and dearly appreciated.

Thank you x
