Hi, my name is Laurent and I'm attempting to raise funds to help my seriously ill cousin Carmine reimburse his student loan and help with his transition into a nursing home. Any surplus will be donated to the Huntington Society of Canada for research.

Carmine has a gastrointestinal deficiency and chronic inflammation also known as Crohn's which is an incurable disease. He also has permanent stoma following a disastrous and complicated surgery which resulted to the removal of a large portion of his intestines. Mandatory weekly stoma care and monthly intravenous treatments are completed by nurses to manage his inflammation symptoms.

Carmine also has recently been diagnosed with Huntington's disease in November 2024. More specifically, Huntington's disease is a degenerative incurable disease that causes motor, cognitive, and psychiatric symptoms.

Motor impairments include involuntary movements, muscle slowness and rigidity, involuntary muscle contractions, difficulty initiating movements, gait, posture, and balance problems, as well as difficulty chewing or swallowing.

Cognitive disorders include slow working memory, and difficulty learning new information.

Psychiatric symptoms may include depression, irritability, sadness or apathy, social withdrawal, insomnia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and bipolar disorder. In addition, the illness has caused weight loss.

Carmine must be constantly supervised not only for his loss in autonomy but also his unpredictable cognitive state, problems walking and chronic pain.
