Hello everyone, I'm putting this GoFundMe together to help out a very good friend of mine. Her family is facing a lot of financial problems right now. Her father, James Havens, was in the hospital in Las Vegas for almost a month. Their family was up there by his side the whole time. As we all know, bills never stop coming. They need help paying for a wheelchair for her dad, APS bill, water bill, groceries, and an in-home health care provider. Insurance isn't wanting to pay. We are asking for any help.
On June 26th, all 7 of us were on our way to Vegas for a family trip. Dad had a stroke on the way. We stopped for a snack, drink, and bathroom break before finishing the drive to Vegas. After Dad had finished going to the restroom, he wanted to go back to the car. The twins went out after him, and he was on the ground by a trash can. We got him up and into the car, thinking it was heat stroke from going from the AC car, to the hot outside, to AC inside the gas station, to hot outside again. We got him up into the car, got to the hotel, got a wheelchair, got him inside, and called 911. He had no idea who we were. The kids were freaking out. We all were. The hospital in Vegas, Sunrise, told us we did the right thing by taking him to the hotel and calling 911 because they would have transported him there anyway as it was a stroke center. He stayed in Sunrise for almost a month. On July 22nd, he was transported to PV to Mountain Valley rehab. He has to have dialysis 3 times a week. He has end-stage kidney failure, super low blood pressure, can't stand on his own, walk on his own, bathe himself, or groom himself. His heart is about 26%, his lungs aren't doing well, and his toenails are so outgrown they are intertwined with each other and growing into his skin. He has a lot of issues, and it's going to be a long road. He has made progress; he can talk now, still has his memory, is able to eat better with supervision, and is still on a strict diet. He also has a spinal fracture, but they're not sure if it's from 6 months ago or 10 years ago, so he has this collar on that was supposed to be for 6 weeks. It's been longer than that. Since a specialist in Vegas put it on, doctors here don't want to step on toes until they get the doctor in Vegas to sign off on it.
Anything helps. Thank you so very much for reading and helping with anything.
