Please Help Amy's Journey to Recovery
Hi everyone!
As some of you may remember, a few years back, my mom sustained a permanent injury as a C5-6 incomplete quadriplegia because of a horrific car accident caused by a negligent driver. My mom and our family really appreciated everyone's kind words and support, which really helped for a long time.
Currently, she is staying in an Adult Foster Care Home and is living off of her SSDI. After Medicaid takes money from my mom’s SSDI, she is left with just over $200 a month and is expected to live off of it. She has had to give up or sell almost all her possessions because of her situation. Our hope is that with some help from you all, she can become more independent and have the room to grow and improve her situation.
At this point in time, my mom is still not able to work or do anything independently as she lives in daily chronic pain. Along the way, she has developed even more health issues, which are slowly being addressed. Her goal is that once some of these health issue setbacks get better, she will be able to functionally handle working again. And living, not just existing.
My mom used to be extremely independent, working 2 jobs, and supporting her 2 kids (my brother and I). She was very happy go-lucky and super giving to everyone around her. It was always in her nature to take care of people when provided the opportunity. She is the kind of mom, sister, and friend you would want, which has made seeing her go through so such pain and loss devastating for our family.
My mom has had 3 major medical procedures since her accident and is hoping only have just 2 more that will help her tremendously. She is now getting better care, so she’s heading in the right direction to the road of better recovery, which is reassuring and inspires confidence that she will overcome this.
Our family is hoping we can come together and help my mom, and we would really appreciate any donations. She continues to have out of pocket expenses and needs help. Her goal is that after getting the right care, not being so consumed with chronic pain, and getting her pain under enough control, she will be able to get help getting back to doing some kind of work, because living off of SSDI and only being left with $200 a month of it, isn’t fathomable or fair.
Our family would greatly appreciate your support. ❤️
