Please help Amy overcome tragedy and prevent homelessness.

Hi, my name is Sarah Cameron and I am starting a GoFundMe for a friend named Amy Donoway. Amy is about to be evicted from Ashley Forest. I am attempting to raise money for a move ($600) first and last months rent, (1,600) a gently used car ($1500), and lastly, money for an Uber to get her to job interviews until she can afford a car.

Amy is a hard worker, and in the past has worked in elder care (home health care), and also has waitressing and house cleaning experience.

Amy has given me permission to share her experience over the past 3 years. She and her common law husband of 18 years lived in Henderson, and were able to maintain work throughout most of Covid, but were living paycheck to paycheck. Currently Amy is 38 years old, and at age 40, J.C. was going to become a father for the first time, and both of them were incredibly excited. Tragically, Amy and J.C.s son passed away within 4 hours of being born, (Jeffrey Christopher Pruitt 11), named after his father. Tragically, 4 days later, J.C. took his own life, as he was severely depressed after losing his only child.

Amy relocated to Chapel Hill from Henderson and when she lost her car she lost her job. Additionally, Amy, at age 38 desperately needs heart surgery, (endocarditis) and has swollen feet (as I am with her right now), but is unable to do this (surgery), as she fears being homeless. The doctors have told her she does need the surgery, but financially she is unable to follow through and does not want to be evicted, as the recovery is roughly 30 days.

My hope and prayer now is that the community would come together, and help Amy know that all people matter, and spare her from becoming homeless. She has been on 7 job interviews, has gotten two callbacks, but does not have transportation. I can attest that all of what I am saying is accurate and true, and if anybody has any questions, they can contact me.

It has been such a hard time for so many people, and I hope that those who are a bit more fortunate might find it in their hearts to help a stranger, so that her worst case scenario i.e. becoming homeless, does not come true.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read this post, and please keep Amy in her prayers. Our young daughter asked me recently how somebody becomes homeless, and sadly I did not have a good answer. Through no fault of her own (in my humble opinion) Amy has had many disadvantages over the last three years, and I am hoping that things will turn around with the communities love, help, support, and financial provisions. Thank you again.
