Help Amelia Face Her Medical Debt Head On

UPDATE:
I was officially told that I need 3 crowns, which will cost 4500 in total. I had 3 successful root canals but now my teeth are at risk of worsening damage if I don't get them soon. I cannot bite into food normally and need to wear a nightguard to prevent any further damage. With insurance, I have to wait a year and that makes me nervous. I will be getting fillings in the meantime but this is not a permanent fix. Thanks all for your help!

This is a story about a girl named Not-So-Lucky.

Actually, her name is Amelia and she's me.

October 19th, I was having a really fun night. Filled with music and friends and a perfect rainy evening. With halloween on the way there was a whimsical feel to the air. I had just left a show and was in high spirits when I arrived home to both my roommates, both of whom were also in upbeat moods. This combined energy led us to decide to get a drink at a nearby watering hole for some laughs and camaraderie.

With big smiles on our faces and positive attitudes, we set out for a nightcap. This trip inspired myself and my roommate to up the "fun" ante and a piggy-back ride was now in the cards. I, being the taller of two, decided to be the carrier and promptly squatted down in preparation. My roommate took a leap of faith (literally and figuratively) and jumped aboard. However, the rain was coming down, slick on the sidewalk and my shoes slipped.

Because my hands were busy preparing for the landing of the friend on my back, my lovely face broke our fall and then broke on the damned sidewalk. (I will be petitioning for foam sidewalks ASAP)

This blow has broken my nose, which (luckily) only required 3 stitches. Ripped my tongue, which needed two. Chipped a tooth and has caused serious injury to my two front teeth. (the exact damage is TBD, x-rays coming soon)

A few months ago I sadly lost my job and my health insurance benefits that came with it. I, now, teach part-time at a boutique ballroom dance studio. Therefore, I am not currently insured and am baffled at how I am going to afford the E.R visit and future dental surgeries I will need.

I am doing research into the best course of action but with missing work and also needing to pay life expenses (rent, utilities, food, care for my cats) I am struggling to see the silver lining in this very grey cloud that is now lingering over me.

I am, generally, an optimist and like to find meaning and upside in everything but let's be honest guys, this just sucks.

A night of whismy has turned into a nightmare. If you can help out, amazing! If not, I totally understand (these times are not easy for anyone!)

But also, let this be a cautionary tale:

If you're gonna partake in outdoor activities such as singing in the rain or piggyback rides to the dive bar, wear a helmet.
