PLEASE HELP ALEX AND HIS FAMILY FIGHT CANCER

2020 was a challenging year for everyone with COVID 19 but for our gorgeous friend Alex, 2020 dealt another huge blow. In December he was diagnosed with an aggressive and rare cancer called Rhabdomyosarcoma. This is a fast-growing soft tissue cancer.

Alex is 7 years old and is in Grade 2. He lives in Macleod (Melbourne) with his Mum (Courtney), Dad (James) and two-year-old brother (Ollie).
He is an adventurous, energetic, compassionate and social young boy who always has a smile on his face. Alex is happiest when he is riding his bike, playing at the park with friends, watching or playing with anything Star Wars and being silly with his brother.

In October 2020, Courtney noticed a lump on Alex’s leg. Erring on the side of caution Courtney and James sought medical help to investigate the lump and after a series of tests, they were dealt the devastating cancer diagnosis.
Following this it was necessary to commence chemotherapy immediately.
For Alex this has meant a series of tests and very uncomfortable procedures, including a 7-hour surgery. His treatment will be ongoing over the next 18 months and he will spend a significant amount of time in hospital, receiving chemotherapy and radiation. He is also scheduled to have surgery in March to remove the tumour. Despite this, Alex has shown strength and determination which is truly amazing. His courage and resilience is being tested every day but his strong and charismatic nature keeps shining through.

The nature and extent of Alex’s treatment means that the Baglin's family life will be significantly disrupted. It has been necessary for Courtney to take extended leave from work and James to reduce his work hours to provide the care and support that Alex requires. The Baglin family have a huge battle ahead.
Many people have asked how they can help, so we have put together this page to raise whatever money we can to help pay the bills and cover expenses to relieve some of the huge pressures associated with a significant loss of earnings and allow them to focus on the most important thing of all – their family.

We all know someone affected by cancer but this time it’s our gorgeous friend Alex. From the bottom of our hearts we ask for you to help Alex and his family in his fight to beat cancer.

This fundraiser has been set up by Jodi Franzini (a friend of Courtney’s)from Melbourne, Australia. Jodi intends on donating the funds raised to the family to help them bills and costs involved in supporting and caring for Alex during his treatment. Once the goal of $20,000 has been achieved we will transfer the full amount to Courtney, James, Alex and Ollie.
