Please Help A GC Woman Being Cancelled in Vermont

Donation protected
I'm Fred Sargeant and I'd like to tell you about the recent cancellation of a woman because of her gender critical beliefs. My friend Holly A., like many, struggles to get by. A single woman, who in addition to her day job, pursues sharing her food passion with her neighbors and the surrounding community by operating a small kitchen for takeout and delivery.

Early this past month, Holly was unexpectedly laid off from her job and was counting on being a vendor at an upcoming food festival to make ends meet for this month. Four days before the scheduled occasion, the head of the event organization sent her an email telling her that she was being excluded from participating because of her gender critical and political beliefs. The email, citing Holly's protected expression of her beliefs, read in part, "While we believe your food and service of food would have been a great fit, we have discovered that your values and opinions do not align with the mission of (our organization). Because of this, we will not be using you as a vendor at our event."

Oddly, on the organization's About page on their website, they say that their goal is to "strengthen our community by looking at it through the various lenses of the people who make it up." Clearly, that inclusion does not apply to people who publicly support women's sex-based rights and the safeguarding of children.

All of this leaves Holly unable to arrange to schedule a new replacement event (she has been working on this one for two months) and significantly short of resources to cover her monthly expenses. She's just started a new job working nights but that won't come close to making up for the missed work and extra income from the canceled event, and food stamps can't be used for those expenses.

At the event, Holly would have sold meals of her terrific Miami-based cuisine (including dessert) for about 20 dollars. Please consider a donation for all or part of a meal - no donation will be too small.

All donations received will go to Holly's monthly expenses and get her back on her feet from these unanticipated setbacks.

If you aren't able to donate at this time, please pass this along to your friends who support a woman's right to exist and survive, and to not be so discriminatorily and prejudicially canceled from a supposedly inclusive event.

Thanks,
Fred
