Dear friends, family, and compassionate supporters,My name is Chris Simpson, a veteran who has faced significant health challenges due to prolonged medical mismanagement within the VA Healthcare system. Diagnosed with COPD in 2003 due to black mold exposure, my condition was manageable until I was prescribed long-term steroids (Symbicort and Spiriva) for over a decade. Unbeknownst to me, these medications weakened my immune system, leading to recurring lung infections, high blood pressure, a rapid heart rate, and a new diagnosis of diabetes. In 2024, my health took a drastic turn. Repeated lung infections were treated with more steroids and antibiotics, masking the root cause. Despite my concerns, the VA system continued the same ineffective treatments. Recently, a Dr in the private sector preformed a biopsy revealed Invasive Aspergillosis, a serious fungal infection that thrives in those with compromised immune systems—mine, weakened by years of steroids. This condition is not curable, and I now face COPD, diabetes, and this life-threatening infection. The VA denied access to Tezspire, a treatment that showed significant improvement in lung function citing cost, leaving me trapped in a cycle of harmful medications. I’ve been forced to retire seven years early, sell my possessions to cover medical bills, and face a shortened life expectancy, robbing me of time with my grandchildren and the retirement I worked 40 years for.I’m under the care of Dr. Alcorn, who is working to find solutions, but I need your help to cover medical expenses, access alternative treatments, and regain stability. Your support can help me break free from this cycle and fight for my health. Please donate and share my story. Every contribution brings hope and a chance to reclaim my life. Thank you for standing with me.With gratitude,
Chris Simpson
