Hello, my name is Leon.

A few short years ago, my uncle, who is a police officer in a Chicago suburb, was working a local festival in the summer when he suffered a massive stroke. It has been years now, and he has made progress but has had several setbacks in the last year, partly due to workers' comp dragging their heels and moving him from rehabilitation facility to rehabilitation facility.

His wife (my aunt) visits him every day, even while working a full-time and a part-time job to pay bills, and still manages to babysit her young grandson at times. Both he and she are growing more and more frustrated with the progress of workers' comp as their home needs to be made wheelchair accessible for him (enlarging doorways, shower, wheelchair ramps, etc.). This is having an adverse effect on my uncle as he feels he will never get to go home again.

My hope is to raise enough money to help relieve stress from them, give my aunt a break, maybe pay off some of their bills, and pay for improvements—whatever they need.
