Please Help a Brilliant Professional Transition Safely Back to India
I am raising funds to help a dear friend make a smooth and dignified transition back to India during an exceptionally difficult phase of his life.
My friend is an exceptionally accomplished individual with a distinguished academic and professional background. He earned his Master’s degree in Physics from IIT Kanpur and went on to complete a PhD in Physics from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. His research work has been published in prestigious international physics journals, including:
- Band Structure of the Fractional Quantum Hall Effect
- Jastrow-Slater Trial Wave Functions for the Fractional Quantum Hall Effect
- Phase-Diagram Study in the Half-Integral Fractional Quantum Hall Effect
Like many researchers, he eventually transitioned into the IT industry due to limited academic opportunities at the time. Despite having no formal computer science background, he built a highly successful IT career spanning more than 25 years. He has worked with several Fortune 500 companies, including Citigroup, Bank of America, Verizon, Sabre, and EDS, and spent over six years at Citibank in his most recent major role.
In addition to his professional work, he has made meaningful contributions to the open-source community, creating and maintaining projects such as:
He has also generously shared his knowledge through numerous technical talks and user group presentations, including:
- Microservices with Spring Cloud - Part1
- Microservices with Spring Cloud - Part2
- Building RESTful Web Apps with ExtJS
- Generic Spring Components and Templates
- Eclipse Plugins for J2EE Development - Part1
- Eclipse Plugins for J2EE Development - Part2
- Memphis Tech Talks - Part 1
- Memphis Tech Talks - Part 2
- Memphis Tech Talks - Part 3
Despite his remarkable qualifications and decades of experience, he has been unable to secure employment for over a year. He continues to actively search for opportunities, but if nothing materializes in the next two months, he plans to return to India to restart his life.
This fundraiser is intended to help cover basic living expenses and relocation costs, allowing him to make this transition safely, calmly, and with dignity—without the added burden of financial stress.
Someone of his background should not become homeless and freeze to death. Sometimes, the most capable people fall the hardest—not because they failed, but because they carried everything alone for too long. Your kindness, support, or even sharing this campaign can help change that story. Thank you for taking the time to read and for any help you are able to offer
