Please help Jonesea with his recovery
Donation protected
Hello friends! This is the Elmore family and we’re putting together a gofundme for Jonesea, creator of Jonesea wetsuits, to help with his medical expenses. Jonesea was competing in last week’s Hotdogger Championship and absolutely killing it when he pulled a huge maneuver and ended up with a severe break to his leg.
Any support, large or small, would be greatly appreciated even if you can just carry forward the big love and stoke into the world!
Jonesea is a beautiful human and one of the most sought after wetsuit tailors around and has an absolutely huge amount of enthusiasm for the sport of surfing. He runs a one man operation sewing his goods and this injury will definitely put a hold on his production and livelihood. Jonesea has a crazy amount of stoke and positivity about life and is super excited to heal up quickly, get back to work and most importantly get back out in the water!
Jonesea very recently put his whole life on hold to give 100% dedication to helping the victims of the Maui fires. His generosity of spirit, time and resources were truly inspiring to us all. We’re hoping our community of surfers can pull together and donate to support Jonesea’s out of pocket medical expenses, physical therapy and missed work. He goes in for surgery on the morning of October 18th, so let’s all send him positive healing vibes!
From the man himself, a description of what happened,
“During the event, I was fully focused on winning. I won my my first heat, which fueled my determination to push harder, go bigger, and stoke the crowd and judges. I knew I had solid noserides on my @tylersurfboards DSD, but with only a few minutes left, I made a board switch to my 9'6 @krishallsurfboards blade and won the heat!
On an overhead shorebreak dumper, I hit the lip as hard as I could with an Indy grab, executed it, but then suffered a broken fibula and tibia. Underwater, I realigned my right foot to its correct position from 3:00 back to 12:00. When I resurfaced, I called for help, and my friends @dontjustsurf and @huddaddy came to my rescue. I closed my eyes, focused on slow, calming breaths, and maintained my composure.
Ed's pops drove me to the hospital, where X-rays and CT scans confirmed the extent of my injury. The doctor was impressed that I had reset my own foot and commended me as a badass. Ha!
Surgery lies ahead, and I'll be reaching out to my trusted orthopedic surgeon tomorrow. I'm incredibly proud of my surfing, and I'll return even stronger and more determined.
I appreciate your understanding that suit production is temporarily on hold. Thanks for all the prayers and heartfelt wishes for a speedy recovery; I truly appreciate you all.
I hope you all enjoyed the Hotdogger as much as I did.
A big thanks to Ed and everyone who contributed to this amazing event. Special appreciation to Tyler and Kris Hall for providing me with exceptional boards to showcase my surfing on.”
Thanks so much for your support and love for this local legend!
