My name is Dinah and I am a Canadian resident, originally from the Philippines, having lived and worked in Canada for the past 10 years.  I work fulltime as a day care teacher and part time as a cashier at a local supermarket.  My son is in his final year of studies at the local University.  My husband is retired.  

I currently have an emergency need for funding because BOTH of my 77 and 79-year-old parents respectively, have been admitted to Perpetual Hospital in Manila Philippines with Covid-19 and pneumonia, on the same day, March 7, 2021.  They are being treated with antibiotics, Covid-19 medications, supplemental oxygen, and respiration while in quarantine.  If recovery goes well for both, they may be in hospital for 14 to 30 days, minimum.

My first medical bill from the hospital is approaching 750,000 Pesos ($20,000 Canadian) for just 7 days of hospital care for 2 people.  I expect that the total bills for both parents will exceed $60,000 Cdn. and may approach $100,000 Cdn.  This equates to almost 3 years of my gross annual income before expenses, and despite having some savings, is well beyond my means.  I have no other source to fund this emergency as there is no insurance coverage and no government support.  All funds raised will be utilized for medical and hospital expenses for my parents.

My parents have lived a very generous, religious, and charitable life and had a son who died of an accident while living in a Catholic seminary many years ago.  My parents hosted many prospective Catholic priests in their home over the years at no cost and only for reasons of kindness, and extended our family through informal adoptions for the needy.  They have a son and 2 grandchildren that they love and cherish very much.

We would be very appreciative if they could benefit from your kindness in this hour of need.  Our need is urgent and may be life saving!
