I'm Kat and I'm posting this on behalf of myself and my partners and/or roommates, Gold, Heather, and Olya.(And our cats!) We've been trying since April to move out of Georgia and get to Portland, OR. Due to several unforeseen circumstances, such as electricity and food costs skyrocketing in our area, debt, medical bills, a lack of job availability and discrimination, and our main source of income becoming much less stable, we've been delayed and stuck in the red, using much of our moving fund just to survive, paying extra to stay here month to month as we'd kept trying to get things to line up. Every single step of the way, we've been subject to technical issues and delays on other people's end, for example, trying to secure a lease has led to an over a month long ordeal, costing us thousands of dollars to stay here as we kept being led to expect to be ready to move "any day now."
It appears very likely that we'll be able to finally lock down a place in Portland by this Monday(9/29), but we likely need to leave this place by the end of the month(10/1) and afford travel expenses and storage for whatever we can't bring. We luckily have friends willing to help us drive and move some of our things, but the deposit and first month's rent will be $2100 to begin with, and we may need to stay in a hotel until our transport arrives.
Ultimately, we can't afford to live here anymore. We've run through a lot of our funds trying to make this move happen, and now it's finally in reach, but we've come up short, so this fundraiser is to help us finally get on our feet, and deal with some of the things that have been weighing us down for a while.

Thank you.
