I’m fundraising for my 2-year-old rescue dog, Ryder.

Ryder came into my life in a way I’ll never forget. She ran down the street in front of my car with a rope around her neck, no tags, dirty, and so matted that later I had to completely shave her fur because it couldn’t even be brushed out. I took her to the SPCA to see if she was microchipped – she wasn’t. They asked if I wanted to leave her there, but in that short time we’d already formed a bond, so I left my information and brought her home instead.

From that day, Ryder has barely let me out of her sight. If I leave, she wants to go. She’s incredibly sweet and acts almost like a baby – she loves to lie on her back and be held in your arms. She finally had a safe home, and I thought I had done the right thing by getting pet insurance to protect her if anything ever happened.

Two months ago, Ryder jumped and landed the wrong way, and she broke her leg.

Since then, I’ve been doing everything I possibly can for her. I’ve already spent close to $3,000 on:

Emergency visit (around $1,200)

X-rays on two different occasions (around $600)

Getting the bone set and wrapped

Exams, bandage changes, and other care

I truly believed the pet insurance would help with a situation exactly like this. Instead, my claim was denied, and I was stuck with the entire bill on my own.

After two months of trying to let the leg heal without surgery, the vet told me the bone is not healing. Now I’ve been given two heartbreaking options:

Have surgery to repair the leg with pins and a plate, estimated at $4600–$10,000 (not including follow-up care), or

Amputate the leg, which still costs almost $3,000.

I don’t have $8,000–$10,000 available, but the thought of Ryder losing her leg at just 2 years old is devastating. She doesn’t understand why she’s in pain or why she can’t run and play like she used to. She trusted me when I took her off that street, and I want to do everything I can to give her a real chance at a full, happy life.

I’m asking for help to cover:

Ryder’s leg surgery (pins and plate)

Hospitalization and anesthesia

Follow-up X-rays and exams

Medications, bandage changes, and aftercare

Every bit helps – even a few dollars or simply sharing this page. Ryder is more than “just a dog.” She’s my family, my shadow, and a sweet rescue who finally found someone to love her. I just want to keep my promise to her and give her the best chance to heal.
