Hi! Thank you for taking the time to view our gofundme! My name is Summer! My mom has been struggling with stage three breast cancer for awhile now. She was diagnosed at 51 and it was a HUGE shock to all of us! She has health insurance but they do not cover the surgeon that is needed for this surgery. This surgery aside, her insurance really didn’t help much at all regardless. She has been struggling SO MUCH to just pay for all these medical bills and has had to work so hard while having cancer! It’s been rough in MANY way. Now is the time for her to have a big surgery and it’s scheduled for the end of this month! She is about to have to cancel the surgery if she can’t come up with the money. She’s worked so hard but still doesn’t have enough. I wanted to start this for my mom to help her get this reconstruction surgery that she needs! My mom is the most kind, loving, generous person I’ve ever met! She puts everyone else before herself. She has ALWAYS been such a light. Such a joy to be around. I think she deserves the world but she most definitely did NOT deserve to have all this happen to her! She is such a strong woman though and is such an inspiration! She won’t ask anyone for help EVER but she trulyyyy needs all the help she can get RIGHT NOW, immediately! And she needs alll the prayers as well!

- ‼️**EDIT** She wasn’t able to raise the money for her surgery fast enough. She called the surgeons office to cancel the surgery, but Luckily, they said she can reschedule it this ONE TIME!‼️

My mom, Tammy Richards, was
- diagnosed with stage three Breast cancer, September 2023. Everything was so hectic and was all going so fast!
- Her First round of chemo started two weeks later. She lost all of her hair, her nails, etc. just after the first session. Her First round of chemo was 6 sessions. It was VERY potent and Sooo hard on her. Couldn’t eat, was so tired ALL THE TIME, was very weak and lost a ton of weight so fast.
- Her first surgery was February 20, 2024, Where She had a double mastectomy to remove the cancer from the breasts and also removed three lymph nodes. Things were going great at first. Until they weren’t!
- She the. had surgery to Put in two expanders. But her body rejected one and they had to remove that one a month later. She has had SEVEN surgeries all together so far. Mostly due to complications.
- In March 2024, she started her 2nd round of chemo. It wasn’t as harsh on her body but it was 15 sessions. Her hair had started to come back at that point atleast. But…
- July 2024 she Started radiation and that went on for 6.5 weeks and it was SO FREQUENT (multiple times a week I think? But ATLEAST once a week for sure)! It burned her skin. It burned all healthy tissue and even her muscle that was below the skin.
- She was worried that she’d lose her insurance so another surgery was scheduled. They Attempted to put expander back in in September 2024.
- Unfortunately she then got a bacterial infection that kept her in the hospital for a week. So.. Again.. another surgery to remove the expander AGAIN.
Due to damage on the right side from cancer removal and radiation, the implants don’t seem to be an option anymore. They want to do grafting from her belly skin and fat to rebuild breasts for her.
The Price for this surgery after insurance, is about $4000 out of her pocket.
She also has to travel states away to get this surgery. Recently, her car broke down so she has to pay to use a rental car to get there, while there and for the way back! She has to pay for meals for 10 days as well. BUT thankfully, she does a have a place to stay while there. At a place called Hope lodge!
Not to mention all the other medical bills she has that accumulated from the beginning to now. We would TRULY appreciate ANY help, as she has worked so hard to get the money herself but has not been able to even get close. She still has to pay her normal household bills and expenses of course. So It seems impossible for her to save for this surgery and it’s now down to the last minute!
She would never ask for herself. So I am here making this FOR HER in hopes that we can raise enough for her to have this surgery! It seems that Everything has gone wrong throughout her cancer journey. Which has led her to the point she’s at now. With a “mutilated chest”, as she says. It looks as if she has one breast to others, but in reality, she just has ONE expander that is just.. there?! Not being used for any specific purpose anymore. They aren’t using it to expand her skin. They just.. never removed it I guess?!
Shes didn’t deserve any of this. Definitely didn’t deserve to be mutilated on top of it all. But she is most definitely, MORE than deserving of an opportunity to atleast TRY fixing the doctors and the surgeons mistakes.
