Support Shane’s fight against brain cancer
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Shawna I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my nephew-in-law Shane and his family during what has been the most difficult time in their lives.
Just days ago, Shane was going through life as a healthy, devoted father, husband, and friend pushing through what he thought were severe headaches. After suffering with frequent headaches for two weeks, Shane first visited the ER on Sunday April 6th. At that time, the ER physician treated him for cluster headaches and instructed him to follow-up with his primary care physician in a week if symptoms did not improve. After a follow-up with his primary care physician on the afternoon of Thursday April 10th, Shane was treated for migraines. He was instructed to return if symptoms worsened at which time they would do a CT scan. By Thursday night Shane's condition had worsened, and he was rushed back to the emergency room. A CT scan revealed Shane had a brain bleed caused by a large tumor on his frontal lobe.
He was immediately transferred to St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison by ambulance. The neurosurgeon at St. Mary's delivered shocking news, that Shane had a large, aggressive brain tumor and the swelling in his brain had reached a critical level. He needed emergency surgery immediately. Without it, he would not have survived the next two hours.
Thanks to swift action from the medical team and several miracles, Shane survived his emergency surgery. Surgeons were able to remove more than 99% of the tumor, which was the size of an avocado. However, the road ahead is still uncertain. The family is currently awaiting pathology results, which will determine the grade and type of tumor as well as the frequency of chemotherapy and radiation that Shane will need to undergo.
Shane is now home, recovering and surrounded by family. He is gaining strength each day, but he faces a long and challenging journey ahead.
Why They Need Your Help
These medical treatments that Shane needs will require financial support. Between emergency hospital care, neurosurgery, time away from work, and anticipated treatment costs, the weight is overwhelming. We are raising funds to help ease these burdens so that Shane and his family can focus on what matters most: his recovery.
If you are able, we ask you to consider making a donation to help cover medical expenses, transportation to treatment, and everyday costs during this incredibly difficult time. No amount is too small, and every bit helps.
If you are unable to give financially, please keep Shane and his family in your prayers. Your love, support, and continued encouragement mean the world to them.
Thank you for standing beside this wonderful family. Your kindness is carrying them through.
With love,
Shane, Carissa, Greysen, Sawyer, and Eagan Kieler and extended family
