In May 29, 2024. My mother was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer.

We have set this page up to help her pay for her treatment which our family can not afford. She is an expat from the Phillipines, living in Kuwait. This treatment is very expensive, so we have had no choice but to set up this page for any kind donations of any amount.

She is a non-smoker since birth and her cancer was diagnosed further by an oncologist who described the root cause to be of genetic causes through her family.

My mother was suffering from continuous coughing and high fever.

Her doctor recommended a chest X-Ray to try find the reason for her irritable dry cough.

The respiratory doctors recommended her to undergo thoracentesis which drains the pleural fluid from her lungs.

Unfortunately all the pleural fluid could not be removed and the doctors highly recommended Thoracoscopy surgery.

After the completion of the Thoracoscopy surgery,the biopsy samples were analysed including the pleural fluid from her lungs.

A few weeks later the pleural fluid accumulated again in her lungs and she had breathing difficulties.

The respiratory doctors then recommended her to have a PET scan.

After the diagnosis from the PET scan the root cause was confirmed to be Stage 4 lung cancer.

When the family received this sad results we had no choice but to continue with the diagnosis.

After a week of having numerous additional blood tests,further tests were urgently recommended by her respiratory doctors.

The doctors advised that because she was diagnosed with lung cancer, the next procedure from the oncologist is to have an MRI to check the Brain function.

We then proceeded to have an MRI examination specifically for the brain.

After a few days the findings showed a small brain lesion the size of 7 to 8 mm in diameter.

This news again was shocking ( Picture below of her Brain MRI scan)

The oncologist then referred her to the Gamma Knife Specialists which investigate and specialise in radiotherapy to target ,shrink and destroy brain tumours & lesions.

Gamma knife surgery is extremely expensive and unfortunately we cannot afford to pay for this surgery.

The family would really appreciate any contributions to assist us with the costs to have this tumour removed at the earliest.

In addition my mother was prescribed the drug called Tagrisso.

Tagrisso is a target therapy drug which is specifically designed to reduce the symptoms of stage 4 lung cancer and hopefully give my mother a normal life again.

Tagrisso is highly recommended to treat stage 4 lung cancer but unfortunately again the costs for the treatment and tablets are extremely expensive and are not funded or covered in the Philippines.

The total cost for the combined treatment equates to £ 14000.This includes six months of Tagrisso tablets and the cost of additional MRI, PET scans and the Gamma knife radio-surgery.

We have created this page for your kind support and contribution to help us buy this medication and pay towards all of the costs of the radiotherapy in order to fight this Cancer and bring life back to my mother.

The family wish to spend more time with our mum and give her lots of love and support.
