My cousin Yumna, a spirited 24-year-old girl from Pakistan, recently underwent a devastating diagnosis: she urgently requires a liver transplant because she has Cirrhosis of the Liver. Yumna's family, who have just moved to this country, find themselves in an unpredictable situation as they are not financially equipped to cover the immense costs associated with the surgery. The cost of a liver transplant and the subsequent medical care are substantial, placing an enormous burden on Yumna's family. As they navigate a foreign healthcare system, they are struggling with mounting expenses, including medical consultations, diagnostic tests, surgery fees, post-operative care, and the lifelong need for anti-rejection medication.
