Hi, my name is Kim. Many of you know me through my rescue, Barking Back, which I started back in 2012. We've had a lot of medical and difficult rescue cases, particularly over the past year and a half post-covid. A lot of times money is low for the rescue and I will have to supplement for the dogs. Well, yesterday Chevy, my own foster fail from 2013, my heart dog, needed to be hospitalized. I woke up in the morning and knew immediately something was wrong, as he wasn't trying to barge his way under the covers and I found him sleeping in the living room. When he got up to go outside I immediately noticed his gate was off and he was unbalanced. He looked a bit whacked out and his mouth was dry and his lips were stuck on his teeth and he just looked at me like a cartoon character. Without hesitation we jumped in the car and headed to Newtown Vet Specialists in Connecticut. Doc and I both were thinking toxins, but we had no idea what, and even when I got home and inspected the yard etc, nothing was to be found. Of course that isn't the only possibility, as he presented with neuro and it could be sudden onset of a disease. He has been in the hospital since yesterday and we're still unsure. I do have insurance for him, but the deductible is $700 and they said they would only pay $852 of the $2100 initial estimate for just yesterday's overnight. After a long '20 to '22 between rescue and covid, I could use a bit of help for my baby. At this point we don't even know what we will face next and where we stand with his health. Follow up with a neurologist is imminent at this moment. Thank you all for your prayers and concern. It really helped when I was so worried all day.
