Hello, my name is Deborah Lengsfeld. I am fundraising for my mom, Jennifer Sibley who lost animals and all of her store inventory in a fire that destroyed her petshop UJ Pets in Mendota, Illinois on December 29th, 2022. UJ Pets was in the beginning stages of merging with the Fin Fur Feather Petshop from Freeport, Illinois. Both pet shops were moving into a bigger building on the same block and that building along with the many animals inside was a complete loss. All parties involved are completely devastated. My mom had put all her hard work and dedication into building her dream business and after only just over a year, this devastation has happened. This was her dream as far back as I can remember and it just breaks my heart to see her reach it and then be taken away so quickly. She worked at the petshop and Casey's to make ends meet. My mom with the help of my brother go to animal expos with product and animals and have become well-known in the animal community. She always goes above and beyond for her customers to ensure their pets have everything they need. During the fire, the shop Macaw, Mango and Lucy the Cockatoo were able to be saved along with Melvin the Cockatoo, some rats, mice, hamsters, guinea pigs, a few reptiles and other smaller birds. The real miracles were the bearded dragon, frog, tiny turtle and a few fish that managed to survive through the entire fire until the middle of the next day when firemen went back in and found them. We are hoping all the animals make a full recovery. At this time the animals are safe and staying between my house, my sister's and my mom's. The funds raised will help pay for the care of the many animals that made it in the upcoming months and help rebuild the business! Any amounts are greatly appreciated by everyone involved.
