My name is Lorri, and I have known the recipient Tsakos family for roughly 38 years. They are like true family.
Meet Kyriakos “Daddy” Tsakos, who was admitted to hospital on January 18, 2025, on his birthday, for what he thought was going to be surgery for gallstones. Sadly just days later, he was diagnosed with stage 4 gallbladder cancer.
This is one of the most kind, gentle, loving and funny men I have ever met in my life, and since day of diagnosis, he has been a warrior, fighting every step of the way.
Right by his side, through every test, treatment and hospitalization, has been his incredible daughter who has cared for him until exhaustion. She has spent thousands and is essentially working as much as possible just to pay his medical expenses.
To make things worse, a couple months into treatment, daddy suffered a stroke and lost most of his speech. Through tenacity, consistent effort and therapy, he pushes through and has gained back most of his speech but still has many rough days.
Though his chemo has been necessary, he has lost so much weight and is very weak, unable to live the active life he once had. But he still gives the best hugs and kisses, trying to smile through it all.
This amazing man is someone who is quick to mentor and help others during their struggles or financial hardship and I am pleading for us to show up for him and his beautiful family.
We know these are difficult times for everyone, and it is made exponentially worse for this pensioner, whose daughter is doing her best to keep things afloat. With the cost of multiple costly medications, new medical devices for mobility and equipment the home, it has them spread quite thin. Even new clothing is ongoing due to continued weight loss.
Every little bit helps and we are truly grateful for every single dollar donated.
