Hi my name is Karen, I am doing this fundraiser on behalf of Steve Desroches.

After several weeks of being ill, Steve went to the hospital with kidney failure. He spent several days in hospital and was faced with numerous tests to figure out why his kidneys were shutting down. The diagnosis revealed was not a good one.

Steve was diagnosed with Amyloidosis, a rare blood cancer that requires several rounds of chemotherapy, and relies on dialysis three times a week to keep his kidneys functioning.

Do to all the treatments to help him get better, Steve has been unable to go to work and has no extended health insurance to tide him over until he is well again. As you can imagine the ill effects of cancer treatment has zapped his energy and leaves him feeling ill.

Despite all of this, Steve remains positive and humble. It was hard pressed to get him to agree to this go fund me but as a friend I insisted. Christmas is almost on us and no one suffering an illness like this should have to suffer financial hardship because of it.

So I ask that you give what you can, anything will make a difference.
