Hi, my name is Sarah and I’m from Northern Ireland. In 2009, I visited Palestine and witnessed firsthand the hardship and suffering faced by families living in refugee camps, as well as the daily struggles caused by ongoing oppression. Ever since, I’ve carried a deep desire to support the people of Gaza.
Through a fundraising page, I came across the story of Salwa and her family, and we quickly built a connection. Over time, we’ve grown close—we speak most days, and she has opened up to me about her life and the challenges her family faces. Hearing her story has moved me deeply, and I feel compelled to do what I can to support her. Salwa has two young children and at the age of 24 she is trying to do her best for her children but everyday is a struggle.
Salwa’s story
From the very first day of the war, we woke up to the terrifying sound of rockets. Within the first week, we had to flee our home, and since then, I have been displaced more than 10 times, carrying my children from one unsafe place to another.
In the middle of this chaos, I gave birth to my baby boy, Adam, inside a tent made of cloth, with no basic needs for life. My two children are now growing up without a home, without food security, and without safety. Every night, I struggle to comfort them as the cold, hunger, and fear surround us.
We are in urgent need of:
Winter clothes and blankets to protect the children from the cold nights.
Milk, diapers, and food for baby Adam and his sister.
Basic hygiene items to keep them safe from disease in the overcrowded camp.
Shelter support so my children can have a safe place to sleep.
As a mother, it breaks my heart to see my children suffer for things every child deserves—warmth, food, and safety. I am doing everything I can.
