Hello everyone! My name is Nick Manning and first responders along with myself can use your help.

As many of you know, New Orleans and the surrounding areas were recently dealt a catastrophic blow when Hurricane Ida made landfall as a category 4 hurricane on the evening of August 29th, 2021. Ida's wrath was felt for thousand of miles as she made her way from Louisiana north toward New York and New Jersey . The devastation was instant and immense.

As the sun reappeared and the winds died down the next day, we began to assess the damage. I was devastated to learn of losses I as well as my neighbors incurred. My entire storage unit, which contained all of my family heirlooms, as well many other personal items- including my motorcycle and furniture- was completely destroyed. The force of the winds were so great, my entire storage unit roof was rolled up like a flimsy piece of paper. The doors had been completely blown off, and every single item in my unit was rearranged. Everything has been destroyed. The table where I ate my family meals as a child has been broken into pieces. All of my family photos and papers are now gone . This is a heartbreaking loss for me... and I know I am not the only one who suffers. This is small in comparison to others who I know, work with and care for who have lost everything.

The impact of Hurricane Ida was devastating to tens of thousands of people throughout the country. As a first responder, I witness this devastation first hand. It is not just property loss - it is physical, emotional, and spiritual devastation. Having been deeply affected by her wrath myself, I decided I needed to do something more.

My girlfriend and I are creating this GoFundMe not just for myself, but for all of my fellow first responders. Those who were out in the thick of the storm, making sure their fellow neighbor was taken care of, while they themselves suffered losses. Those who are still helping others before themselves only to know when it's done they will too have to pick up the pieces and rebuild. We want to make sure these brave men and women know they are loved, appreciated, and haven't been forgotten.

My plan is to use your contributions 2 fold. Half of the donations gained through your generosity will be gifted to those first responders or front line workers who need it most. The other half will be used to try and rebuild or replace the things that I've lost.

Those who know me either personally or from Nightwatch know that I'm not the person to ask for help. That being said, all the things that were in storage were not mine and I feel the need to monetarily replace what others lost even though I'm sure they would never ask for it either. It's just the right thing to do. Even more on the right side of things to do would be a check given to those who lost so much and would never ask for it either.

As this goes and if it gains anything, I will find a way to show the funds being given to those who need it most likely through social media. Anything you give will be put to good use and/or given to those who need it most.

Thank you for your help!
