Hi, my name is Kaela Church and Cindy is my coworker and friend. Cindy is the office assistant at Ilalko Elementary School. She has been instrumental in bridging the communication barrier between our Spanish speaking families and our school staff. She is one of the sweetest, kindest people I have ever met.

Cindy's husband, Patrick, is currently on dialysis and has been on dialysis for over a year. In October of 2021, he was also diagnosed with congestive heart failure. In an effort to get Patrick the best medical care, Cindy and Patrick moved away from Cindy's family, from California to Washington State. Family is important to Cindy, so this transition from seeing her family daily, to rarely, has been difficult.

As you can imagine, Patrick cannot work and medical bills are high. He used to be a forklift driver, but the severity of his condition makes work impossible at this time. Cindy is currently the sole provider and cannot pay for a very large medical bill. The financial stress, coupled with the stress of having a severely ill loved one is a huge burden. But Cindy doesn't complain! She is always positive at work and has shown so much strength and grace.
