We at Pfenning’s Farms are proud to employ a dedicated group of seasonal migrant workers from Jamaica who return to our farm year after year — some for more than 20 years. They are a vital part of our community and play an essential role in bringing fresh, healthy food to the plates of Canadians.

Now, they need our help.

We can only imagine what they have been through over the last few days. They’ve been anxiously awaiting news from back home, and now that the worst of the storm has passed, reports are starting to come in. We are still waiting to hear the full extent of damage, but among our team at least 2 people have lost their entire homes and all their belongings, and others have learned of extensive damage to homes and livelihoods. Others have not heard from loved ones at all yet, as communications are down.

The devastation in Jamaica is catastrophic. Rebuilding will take time, effort, and support. We’re asking for your help. Please consider donating — every contribution makes a difference.
