Help My Sister Overcome Frozen Shoulder and Regain Her Life

Donation protected
UPDATE!!! September 20th.

A sincere and heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who has contributed to Tina's GoFundMe. Your generosity has not gone unnoticed and we are happy to share a positive update with all of you. Tina's frozen shoulder procedure was a success. She has been working VERY hard at keeping things nimble with the physiotherapy exercises her doctors recommended. It's time-consuming and painful but absolutely worth it.

Tina put together a TikTok message with Before & After pictures so you can all see the incredible transformation with her range of motion. Please click here to watch.

There's still time to donate! The procedure was expensive and any amount you can donate is sincerely appreciated.
Thank you!

Hello, my name is Lisa and I am starting this medical GoFundMe for my lovely and awesome sister, Tina. For more than a year Tina has been battling a condition called Frozen Shoulder, which has taken a huge toll on her life. Frozen shoulder, also known as adhesive capsulitis, is a painful and debilitating condition that causes stiffness and loss of motion in the shoulder joint, making even basic daily tasks agonizing. Simple things like washing her hair, putting on a jacket, and even shaving her armpits (which she jokingly notes) have become major struggles. Tina has been living with excruciating pain, losing sleep, and has had to give up yoga—something she loves dearly. Recently, the pain was so intense that she collapsed and hit her face, giving herself a black eye in the process.

Despite the debilitating nature of this condition, the medical system has let her down. Tina continues to wait for a referral to a specialist, and her scheduled MRI is not until May 2025—nearly a year away. In attempts to heal her body, Tina has tried everything from massage therapy to physiotherapy, osteopathy, acupuncture, cupping, and gua sha, exhausting her work-provided benefits and creating a significant toll on her finances. The medical system has left her in limbo, leaving her to endure unbearable pain with no clear path to relief. Without medical intervention, the symptoms of adhesive capsulitis can last anywhere from several months to a few years, and they sometimes persist indefinitely.

But there is hope!
Tina has done extensive research and has located a specialized, private clinic called the Frozen Shoulder Clinic, located in Toronto. This clinic offers a non-invasive treatment called Manual Capsular Dissection, which has an almost 100% success rate and guarantees that if her frozen shoulder returns, they will treat it again at no additional cost.

On September 7, 2024, Tina will undergo treatment at the Frozen Shoulder Clinic. Unfortunately, the procedure comes with a hefty price tag of just under $24,000—and it's not covered by OHIP or her employee benefits. While she can claim it as a medical expense on her taxes, the returns she will receive are minimal. As a single mother with a mortgage and two daughters in post-secondary school (not to mention the sky-high cost of living) the treatment costs are a significant burden for her to bear.

Those who know my sister understand that she would never ask for financial help, but she desperately wants her life back, and I’d like to help her get there. Any contribution, of any size, would mean the world to her and our family as she fights to regain her health and well-being. Donated funds will be used to cover the cost of the Manual Capsular Dissection procedure.

If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this campaign with your network. Every share helps us get one step closer to reaching Tina’s goal and gives her the chance to live pain-free again. Tina looks forward to resuming her yoga practice, sleeping through the night, and most importantly, being able to hug her children again - with both arms.

Thank you so much for your support.
