Hi, my name is Miguel and I’ve been a police instructor under the Merida Initiative to help professionalize our brave brothers and sister sheepdogs at the Chihuahua, Mexico State Police (CSP) where cops only make about $700 per month. They work very dangerous areas like Juarez, the steep Sierra Taraumaras, and other cartel controlled regions in their state with very little support.

On 10/7/25 at about 07:30 am, a caravan on CSP officers enroute to relieve another platoon of officers stationed in the Dangerous Cartel Sicario controlled town of Moris, Chihuahua, about 17 hrs. drive from the capital, were ambushed by sicarios while driving along narrow one lane paths of windy mountain roads in the Sierras. Three CSP officers were killed in the attack that forced patrol units to veer off the road and roll down steep embankments to their deaths where they were shot by sicarios. The CSP leader, one of my very valorous and capable students, was severely injured and is requiring extensive medical care to reconstruct limbs. To date, there at least 2 officers missing, 3 killed and 7 severely wounded. 9 suspected sicario arrests have been reported so far.
