Hi, My name is Issaya Mayro. I am currently a first-year medical student at the Kent and Medway Medical School.

I come from a poor background of a family of 6 children in the country of Tanzania. My mom is the only one who is supporting us as my father passed away when I was aged 10.

I have always had a strong desire to help people through medicine. With this goal in mind, I worked hard and managed to get support from the World Education Fund for my school necessities, e.g., books during my secondary school education (GCSE equivalent) and a generous full scholarship, including boarding fees for my two and a half years of A level studies at Kent College in Canterbury.

For my A levels, I did Biology, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Further Mathematics, Psychology and Chemistry, for which I got 5A*s and 2As, respectively.

I was then offered a Scholarship from the Kent and Medway Medical School, which supports my living expenses, for which I am very grateful.

I am also extremely grateful to all the generous benefactors who are helping me with my tuition fees and supporting me with day-to-day costs. I am enjoying the course and am doing well, gaining two distinctions out of the two modules in my exams to date.

However, my current funds only cover the first two and a half years of the university tuition fees. In order to complete my 5-year medical program, I need to find the additional sponsorship required of £22,750.
