Please Donate to help Lisa’s Stroke Recovery

Donation protected
A very dear friend of ours Lisa Murphy Pelletier suffered a massive stroke on April 14, 2022.

She
was admitted to the UW Hospital, Madison ICU and sedated with a drain put in place to remove extra blood from her brain. Lisa remained sedated in ICU about 2 weeks and monitored closely by doctors. The left hemisphere of her brain had significant bleeding and is now severely damaged, this is the area of the brain that language and speech information is processed. Lisa now struggles with expressing and comprehending language and information as well as having function of the right side of her body.

In the last week of April she has been moved out of ICU and is still hospitalized and being watched closely. She has made baby steps towards recovery including removal of the breathing tube, having a long-term feeding tube placed, and having a procedure to place a permanent drain in her brain called a shunt to continue relieving pressure in her head so she can hopefully leave the hospital within the next week or so. Once Lisa is out of the hospital she will be placed into a nursing home somewhere in the Madison area, where she will stay until she becomes more actively alert. As of now, doctors say it could take several months until she is coherent enough to move to a rehab facility. We are trying to stay hopeful at this point while she is being watched closely for a deeper understanding of how much care she will need and how we can help.

Her recovery will take many months at a minimum, and her long term ability to return to work or any sort of normal functionality is still unknown. This is causing - and will continue to be - an insurmountable financial hardship for Lisa and her 3 children. Keirsten, Brennen and Preston are greatly missing their mother and have been thrown into an unimaginable situation and we would like to try to help them in any way possible. Her daughter Keirsten is now her guardian and is a Sophomore at UW Lacrosse and is trying to finish the school year and take care of her mother at the same time. She travels back and forth during the week to try to set up care for her mother and stay on track with school.

We have started this go-fund-me campaign to help alleviate several immediate financial concerns that will be cast upon her children such as healthcare and basic life needs. Keep the prayers, love and light coming her way! She has a long road ahead of her. ♥️♥️ We will never be able to express how much all of your support means, please find it in your heart to donate – any amount is greatly appreciated.
