I’m setting up this Go Fund Me to help my best friend,Kelly Houppert Todd and her husband Mike Todd. A little over a year ago Kelly was diagnosed with a very aggressive,fast moving breast cancer. It was devastating news for Kelly and Mike. Kelly wasn’t sure if she wanted to go through all the treatment but she came to the decision that she was going to fight this. Kelly did chemotherapy,radiation and had a double mastectomy in April,2024. She then had to do more chemo and more radiation. Kelly was just 3 months shy of hopefully putting all this behind her when she developed some medical issues which landed her in the emergency room. Testing was done and the results were not good. Kelly was then transferred by ambulance to Strong Memorial hospital in Rochester where she and Mike were given the awful and heartbreaking news that she has acute myeloid leukemia,an aggressive cancer that affects the mostly the white blood cells,but also the red. This cancer is terminal and doctors have told her she may have a year or two to live with treatment. Kelly has decided to go through with treatment and right now she is receiving chemotherapy and taking 4 pills a day for one week and next week she will be receiving blood transfusions to help hopefully bring up her white blood cell count. Kelly and Mike will then have to travel to Rochester once a month for her treatment. Kelly and Mike are currently thinking about traveling to Houston,Texas to a large cancer treatment facility for a second opinion and other options. Mike has had to be off work to accompany Kelly and bills are piling up,especially medical and travel expenses. Kelly has been through so much in her life. The loss of her children,two babies,each when she was 5 months pregnant. She’s also had a kidney transplant which her sister,Kris,so generously donated to her. Kelly is not ready to leave a little boy in her life whom she had helped raise since he was a baby and who means more than the world to her. She is also not ready to leave her husband Mike, her family and her best friend. So if you could please find it in your heart to donate it would help them so much in this time of need.
