Please donate to help Hannah Buck after a life altering MVA

Hello everyone and thank you for taking the time to be here. We are trying to raise funds for Hannah Taylor Buck.

Hannah sustained critical injuries and subsequent complications from being in a life altering weather related single car accident on April 5 2025.

The force of impact was so great that Hannah’s lower bowel was crushed by her seatbelt and ruptured, spilling gut contents into her abdominal cavity.

Emergency surgery was required to remove the irreparably damaged segment of bowel and suture her colon back together, as well as flush and clean out bowel contents to minimize the contamination in her body cavity.

The contamination of her body cavity resulted in a serious infection, called peritonitis.

Hannah also had an unfortunate complication in which her sutures did not hold, and her abdomen was re-contaminated with bowel contents.

This required another emergency surgery to re-suture her colon and insert drains to relieve the buildup of pus in various pockets in her abdomen.

The resulting infection is very serious, treatment is ongoing and intensive and will be lengthy in nature. She has already required several anaesthetic procedures for placement of drains.

In addition to her severe internal injuries, Hannah also sustained a fracture to her first lumbar vertebra, which has been deemed unstable and for which she will require spinal fusion surgery by Neuro Surgery Specialty at the Saint John Regional Hospital, where she is currently hospitalized.

This in itself will result in a long recovery period, require physiotherapy, the purchase of a wheelchair, walker, and various home assistance aids.

When she is released from the hospital, she will need professional medical home care, provided by extra mural, at her own expense, for a long period of time. Hannah will also require frequent trips back to hospital for repeat imaging and follow up appointments with specialists.

Hannah has a three year-old daughter to care for, and has her regular living expenses, which will be a struggle to manage.

Her partner, Rick, is working, but the added expenses of the accident, and Hannah‘s inability to contribute at this time and for the foreseeable future, have created great stress for this young family.

I am hoping to spread this message as far as I can, and raise as much funding for Hannah and her family as we all can, to help with her transition, catch-up, day-to-day, living, cost of at home medical care and modalities she will need for her long road to recovery.
