Limit increased by a small amounts to help continue paying Steven’s support carers for the hours they are working daily that they can’t invoice for.
hopefully Steven’s NDIS can be reevaluated soon to allow for further care to support my family.

Hello, my name is Kylie and I’m here in hopes of helping my brother and my mum with funding.
My brother Steven is a 37 year old non-verbal man living with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, several types of epilepsy (Tonic Clonic, Myo Clonic, Gelastic, Partial).
He has a PEG to keep him nourished and hydrated. Every two hours Steven needs water through his PEG. Steven also needs his daily epilepsy medication administered via his PEG.
He has a catheter and is at high risk of severe infections which can lead to hospitalisation and if not managed successfully, death. Steven can’t tell you when he is sick and only his family and those who know him very well can identify when he is unwell. When he is unwell, it escalates to emergency very quickly and results in hospitalisation.

Steven also has rods in his spine, has had a third of his femur removed, has a high risk of aspirating leading to pneumonia and is fully dependent on people to support him in every aspect of his life (bathroom assistance, showering, oral hygiene, taking medication, moving from wheelchair to bed and visa versa via sling and hoist). He requires massages and stretching of his legs regularly.

NDIS has failed Steven by allowing his funding to be exhausted. Steven’s support workers have been supporting him without an income for several weeks and can no longer afford to do this therefore Steven is losing his essential daily carers.

Steven’s mum and dad have cared for Steven for his entire life in their family home. It is where Steven is most comfortable and where he wants to live. Steven’s seizures can be triggered by loud noises, light, movement etc. and for this reason he needs to be supported in his environment.

Steven’s dad has had a stroke and Steven’s mum has terminal cancer. They can not provide the support Steven requires and have been relying on a very small team of support workers with specialised skills to provide care to steven from 7am – 10pm daily. The NDIS has failed again to fund Steven adequately despite mountains of evidence from specialists, doctors, support workers, support coordinators, his parents and the list goes on.

Steven’s life and his Mum’s life depend on funding to pay for the specialised in-home carers. Steven’s mum is extremely unwell from her Cancer. It is terminal. She is in the later stages of her battle and this unjust lack of duty of care from the NDIS is causing so much stress which is detrimental to her fight.

I ask you to please donate to Steven’s cause while we continue to plead his case with the NDIS.
Any amount will help. Thank you for reading about Steven and his family.
