Hi, my name is Olivia. Earlier this week my papa was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. My family and I are beyond devastated. Up until 6 weeks ago he showed no symptoms and is now deteriorating rapidly. It is such a shock to us all, we are so heartbroken and wish there was a solution to this nightmare. He used to be such an active person. Running marathons, a successful PT business and training Dundee FC. Similarly, it has been 9 years since my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. In light of this horrendous news and frustration of being unable to change the circumstances, I have decided to run 100km throughout the month of March to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support along with donating 31 cupcakes to the charity Maggie’s in Dundee.
On average, someone is diagnosed with cancer every 90 seconds in the UK. You never know what is round the corner and this could happen to anyone. I understand that during the current cost of living crisis it can be difficult. Despite this, however small any donation or even a re-post is unbelievably appreciated. Although I can’t do anything to change my mums past and my papas future circumstances, raising the money for more research to be conducted and for money to support families, I hope that together we can make a difference.
