Hi my name is Debora Herrera. My best friend Deidra and her husband Scott are not only amazing friends, they are "family". Scott was recently diagnosed with Interstitial Lung Disease. Medication will not help Scott get better. He is currently at Brigham and Woman's Hospital where he has been undergoing an expedited evaluation to get him on the UNOS list for a lung transplant.

Dee and Scott have been there for my family during fun times and during times of crisis such as brain surgery, and cancer diagnosis. Additionally, they even were my support team when I donated a section of my liver to my mother. They graciously moved in and took care of my family ( 18 month, 3 year old and the girls, 11 and 9) for the summer in my absence.

Scott as many of you know is absolutely amazing. He is always ready to lend a helping hand and does not want anything in return. He is a great Special Educator who has helped countless students find success and confidence in their work, including my son. I am forever grateful for his calm, caring - yet stern presence.

I worked as a learning coach for Scott after completing my Social Work degree. It was a life-changing experience as he served as my mentor. I became a Special Education teacher and love going to work every day now.

Anyone who knows Dee and Scott Simano, knows they are very special people. They have the biggest hearts and are always there to lend a helping hand to others. Scott loves teaching and making a difference in the lives of his students. He is a great friend and family person.

Scott and Dee have two amazing daughters, Abigail and Lauren.

This family needs our prayers and our support. They also need our financial support as Scott is undergoing treatment and Evaluations in Boston. It is extremely costly for his family to stay nearby, there are medical costs not covered by insurance and in the coming months, there will be additional expenses relating to the impact of this disease. Any donation, big or small is appreciated.
