Hi, my name is Steve Patterson and many of you know me as a disabled urban blogger and activist for disability access based in St. Louis, Missouri.

I was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic kidney cancer in 2019, and I've been fortunate to have access to treatments that allowed me to live with stage 4 cancer for over four years. Now, my tumors have spread, and treatment options are becoming much more limited. My third treatment plan just stopped working. I've spent most of this month in the hospital, and we're not sure what's next. I hope to have more time, but I can't predict how much.

What worries me most is leaving David, my husband of 9+ years who has been my amazing caregiver, with expenses that he can't cover. Despite my Medicare coverage, copays and other uncovered expenses are close to $10,000. I'm asking for your help to ensure that David isn't overwhelmed with a catastrophic financial burden on top of all the other challenges he'll face.

Any amount is appreciated. As I face what's next, it will ease my mind to know that David is supported.
