Please Help Charlie Brown and his family
Donation protected
It's cost my family $28,000 for the doctors to save my life. I'm feeling much better, so thank you to everyone who has shared or donated to the fundraiser so far. I've updated another picture and the VIDEO is below. This photo was taken on Christmas Eve. The video was taken Dec 21. I've edited this story to share an update with you and it's in bold below. This is my story in my own words ...
About six months ago, I found myself in the garden of a nice family who loves animals. I had been born in a barn but wanted to be in a home with nice people. In June 2023, I knew I’d found my new home. They saw me in the garden, took me in and showed me kindness. They named me “Charlie Brown.” They took me to the vet where I got my vaccinations and neutered. I was adjusting so well to my new home.
But then something happened a couple of weeks ago. Doctors aren’t sure why, but I developed a disease in my lungs which has made me quite sick. I had to have chest tubes inserted to try to drain fluid and infection, but that didn’t work. So the doctors in a big city said they needed to perform surgery. They had to put me under anesthetic and open my chest where they found lots of sticky, fibrous stuff that shouldn’t have been there, and it was causing me to be very sick. They’ve removed that and now I’m in ICU on pain meds and antibiotics trying to recover. I needed a blood transfusion, too. The doctors say I’m in “guarded” condition, but they’re also optimistic.
My family has had to pay $28,000 to the doctors and hospital in the big city, something they hadn’t planned for. They love me and want to do all they can to help me. I’m sharing my story to see if a few other nice people might like to help my new family with the big financial bill they now have.
I’m told that for years, my new family has helped lots of other people with expensive vet bills, so I hope that maybe others will now help my family.
I've been at home now for almost two weeks and seem to be improving; however, I still sometimes cough too much and breathe a little bit fast and I leave very "soft stuff" in the litter box. I think it's caused by the two antibiotics that I still have to take. My local doctor gave me a probiotic to take, too, so maybe that will help. The visits to the local doctor have cost my family over $700 since I came home from the ICU because of the expensive x-rays and another ultrasound. The good news is that I am more active and I eat like a champ and my incision from the surgery looks good.
I’ll continue to be brave and strong. I think I’m about eight months old now and I hope to live a very long, happy life with this family who loves me so much.
Thank you for reading my story. I hope you can help.
This picture was taken Dec 13. The wounds on my sides came from the telemetry pads that I had to wear in the ICU. They tore my skin when they removed them. But I'm healing well.

And this video was taken Dec 21. I'm pretty tired of wearing this thing around my head!
