Hello everyone. Our sister, Kyarra, adopted Doc, formerly known as Buford, from the Jeffersonville Animal Shelter recently and he was showing some scary signs on 6/9/25 and we knew something wasn’t right with him so we decided to bring him into the emergency vet. He wasn’t barking in the car, didn’t want to go outside to potty, wouldn’t eat or drink, and only wanted to curl up in a ball on a blanket in the closet (all abnormal behaviors for Doc). The news we got from the doctor lastnight is that Doc was bleeding in his stomach and needed emergency surgery. Originally, the doctor thought he may have cancer and thought he may not be able to make it, but after the surgery they found that a possible mass of some sort ruptured on/next to his kidney, leading to the internal bleeding.

It was either the surgery or we would all have to say goodbye to our sweet boy and we knew he still had plenty of life to live and we were absolutely not ready to say goodbye no matter the $ amount. Thankfully the surgery was successful lastnight and he is expected to fully recover!! ❤️

Please do not feel like you need to contribute, but absolutely any dollar amount you are willing to contribute would help out our family so much!! The medical care was estimated to be $7k-$10k after radiographs, surgery, medications, blood transfusions, etc. we will know by end of day today (6/10) the total cost and update the post then.

Update #1: Doc is recovering well. Doctors are shocked by how quickly he seems to be recovering. He is fuller alert, awake, and seems to be comfortable.

Update #2: Doctor noticed irregular heart rhythms, they are going to continue to monitor this until they give us the okay to bring him home.

Update #3: The final bill for all the medical costs is right under $12,000. If you can donate, even just $1, to help us pay this expense we would be so grateful.
